Knight Knox At DMSF’s ‘Building the Future’ Careers Event
As part of our charity partnership with the Diane Modhal Sports Foundation (DMSF), the Knight Knox marketing team took part in the foundation’s ‘Building the Future’ careers event and visited both Levenshulme High School and Cedar Mount Academy this week to talk with the students about what a career in marketing can look like!
Our marketing team had a fantastic time at each event, speaking to around 400 pupils across the two days and offering insight into a career in marketing. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to assist the students in planning their futures before they choose their GCSE options, discussing the vast range of aspects on offer within a marketing role, from writing to content creation and graphic design.
Many of the young people attending these career fairs are being educated in Pupil Referral Units, which means they receive their education outside of mainstream schools as they struggle to engage with the national curriculum. These young people can miss out on the opportunity for work experience and often feel discouraged from seeking employment, so the aim of their ‘Building the Future’ event is to engage young people with practically based exercises and demonstrations that provide insight into different industries and raise their career expectations.
Samantha Jones, Marketing Director, had this to say on the events: “It was fantastic to be able to take part in such a fantastic event with the DMSF. Our team had a great time extolling the virtues of marketing and what a career in it can look like.”
“The DMSF is our corporate charity and we are proud that this is our second year taking part in this extremely important series of events at both Cedar Mount Academy and my old high school, Levenshulme High School for Girls.”
Diane Modahl MBE also added; “One of the biggest barriers to young people achieving their potential is the lack of practical opportunities. Building the Future is a great example of partners working together to help develop young people across Greater Manchester. A huge thanks to Knight Knox for their ongoing commitment to helping support young people and develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.”
This year’s ‘Building the Future’ event is the latest in a long line of events in aid of the DMSF as part of our charity partnership. Over 95% of the Knight Knox team were born in Greater Manchester and each and every one of us has a personal connection to the area, so to be able to continue to support the incredible work the foundation does is extremely important to us as a company.
